Bolt Assessment inside Ansys

Automated bolt assessment according to VDI 2230 in ANSYS Mechanical

Structural mechanics

The CADFEM ANSYS extension for automated strength verifications of bolt connections as per VDI 2230

With Bolt Assessment inside Ansys you can evaluate a large number of bolts in complex assemblies realistically and efficiently. Based on a structural-mechanical FEM analysis, you carry out the verification according to the VDI 2230 guideline for the systematic calculation of highly stressed bolted joints, which is widely used in mechanical and plant engineering.  An automated workflow supports you in entering the relevant standard values within the familiar Ansys Mechanical environment for the definition of the respective bolted connection. Model classes 2 and 3 are supported, and the beams for model class 2 can be created directly in Ansys Mechanical. The graphical display of results enables a quick determination of the critical bolted joints.
