Description

The Ansys Fatigue Module enables service-life predictions for simple load scenarios within Ansys Mechanical. This is done intuitively as a post-processing step within the usual simulation environment. With common operational strength concepts such as the local stress and expansion concept, initial conclusions can be drawn about cyclical failure as well as the influence of strength parameters on the service life. In addition to exploring the basic background of service life assessments for cyclically stressed structures, this training primarily focuses on the application of the methods in Ansys Mechanical. All analyses are presented and practiced using specific examples to ensure applicability to your tasks. The session concludes with a look into the Ansys nCode DesignLife expert tool, which is preferred for more detailed operational strength calculations such as combined load scenarios and long time series.

This training is aimed at all structural mechanics engineers who deal with cyclical loads beyond the purely static considerations of component strength and who are looking for a quick introduction to the subject of service life assessment. You can immediately apply the knowledge you have acquired to the key operational strength concepts to practice examples within the familiar software environment.

02 High cycle fatigue: strength assessment according to stress-life approach for high-cycle loads

  • HCF analysis concept
  • Description of standardized S-N curves
  • Fatigue life analysis of a tensile probe with the Ansys Fatigue Tool
  • Workshop bracket: assessment for non-proportional loads

03 Low cycle fatigue: strength assessment according to strain-life approach for low-cycle loads

  • LCF analysis concept
  • Description of the ε-N curves
  • Discussion of the material parameters
  • Workshop: assessment of a tensile probe with the Ansys Fatigue Tool

04 Vibration fatigue: fatigue strength assessment for vibration loads

  • Evaluating the results of a harmonic load of an electrical assembly (PCB)
  • Evaluating of different harmonic loads - sinus sweep
  • Evaluating a randomly excited oscillation (PSD) of a Printed Circuit Board

When will I receive the final confirmation for my training booking?

Straight after you sign up, an automatic confirmation of receipt will be sent to the email addresses you provided. Once you have successfully verified the data you provided, you will receive your personalized sign-up confirmation, containing further information on course fees, the billing address, etc., by email within two to three working days.  

As soon as the minimum number of attendees has been reached, you will receive a final training confirmation containing further information. If you have booked an on-site training, we recommend that you wait until you have received this final confirmation before booking your travel and accommodation.

If the minimum number of attendees is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the training seven days before it is due to start at the latest. When is the sign-up deadline for a training?

Training places will generally be allocated based on the order in which attendees sign up. For this reason, we always recommend booking for your desired date as early as possible.

At what time do the training courses begin and end?

Usually the training courses start at 9:00 am and end at 5:00 pm of the respective local time. The actual course times will be stated in the booking confirmation. Please note that, depending on the training host, there may be a possible time shift between your and the provider's local time. Therefore all local times are provided with the valid time shift to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
