Tech Day: Welding simulation at INSA Lyon

Welding is present in virtually all mechanical and sheet metal industries. As mechanical designs become increasingly complex, welding processes must be optimised and efficient while meeting quality control criteria. The use of numerical simulation is the only way to predict difficulties and optimise the design phase. However, this does not exclude the use of tests to validate and/or calibrate the welding simulation model. Characterisation of the materials used is also necessary to feed the simulation model correctly.

The event is organized by:

What can you expect?

CADFEM, Mecanium and LaMCoS organize a Tech Day on welding simulation. What is the material characterization process? How to use this information in a simulation model? What is the methodology to simulate the thermal process of the TIG welding application? Finally, how can the physical test validate or adjust the simulation model? By attending the CADFEM Mecanium and LaMCoS Tech Day you will understand the complete process from the test and simulation phase of a TIG welding thermal process applied to a test case of an Inconel ferrule to the exploitation of the simulation results and their analysis.
After the presentations, Mecanium and LaMCoS will open their doors for a guided tour of their different research laboratories.

Who should attend?

Tech Day is for all designers and engineers from all industrial fields interested in welding simulation and mechanical design.

Your benefit

This Tech Day illustrates the implementation of a concrete test case based on material characterization, simulation methodology and experimental tests.
