Description

Numerical simulation is a key tool for engineers in the development of optimal composite structures. It allows for the avoidance of elaborate test series and high reject rates. The process begins with the selection of materials and structural design. Fiber-composite laminates offer many optimization possibilities due to their directionally dependent properties.

The aim of this training is to understand, dimension, and simulate fiber-composite laminates and structures. Ansys Composite PrepPost (ACP) plays a central role here. It enables the manufacturing-oriented design of layered composite simulation models and their evaluation. The determination of reserve factors from typical failure theories is demonstrated. You will also learn to automatically generate composite solid models to achieve significantly more precise failure predictions with these 3D models. Furthermore, progressive non-linear damage analysis in the form of stiffness loss (degradation) and delamination, and failure theories are introduced.

All training content is explained using examples and further developed by the participants in their own exercises. This knowledge enables developers, design engineers, computational engineers, and testers to effectively utilize lightweight construction and apply the FE analysis of fiber-composite structures in a well-founded manner.
