Motors need to be more efficient and more compact, while fulfilling mechanical, thermal, electromagnetic and manufacturing requirements. Electric motors should also be developed within a short timescale, be suitable for mass production, and be designed as part as a larger complex system such as powertrains in electrical vehicles.
