User-defined Wear Models with Ansys UPF UserWear
In this course, you will learn how to program, compile and implement user-defined wear models in Ansys. This training is offered as a 1-day course.
Duration
1 day
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Ansys Mechanical, Programming knowledge in Fortran
Software used
Ansys Mechanical
- Gain a deeper understanding of the mechanical modeling of wear
- Learn about and apply Ansys User Programmable Features (UPF)
- Learn algorithmic aspects of computational wear mechanics
- Learn how to program, compile and implement user-defined wear models
Description
User-defined wear models – using the UserWear user-defined subroutine – can be easily implemented in Ansys via the implicit Mechanical APDL solver. The focus of this course is on the mechanical, computational and software aspects of the developmental activities that lead up to the implementation of user-defined wear models in practical engineering. You will receive a concise introduction to UPF technology and then – in interactive group work – put to use all of the practical steps for implementing a physically well-founded wear model with UserWear in Ansys.
We introduce concepts, algorithmic principles and Fortran programming examples that are sufficient for systematically describing and calculating wear processes in isotropic frictional contacts. Building on your personal level of knowledge, you will learn to understand the theory and algorithms of the mechanical wear process. Furthermore, you will learn to understand UPF technology in general as well as for wear (UserWear) and how to configure your subroutines and use them for your analysis. This course is aimed at simulation engineers, developers and researchers who, as part of their tasks, want to expand the list of wear models available in Ansys MAPDL.
