Content of the webcast

Many processes engineering problems take place with the participation of several phases. These include solid-laden flows such as suspension flows in agitators, mixers and mills, pneumatic conveying, separation processes using cyclones and air classifiers, fluidized bed processes and many more. The focus of the Technology Day is the simulation of particle-laden flows.
The simulation of a fluid flow of these processes by means of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) requires the use of a multi-phase model (Lagrange or Euler-Euler) or the coupled approach between CFD and DEM (Discrete Element Method). Depending on the application, the most suitable modeling approach should be used. The introductory presentation shows on the one hand the variety of the modelling methods and on the other hand classifies their range of validity. The in-depth presentations will highlight four important application areas. This provides the audience a guideline as to which approach is appropriate for which industrial application.
