Electric Drives - ROMs and Systemintegration

Recording of the Technology Day "ROMs and Systemintegration" from July 20th, 2021.

Content of the Event Webcast

Especially electric motors with their inverters ahead and mechanical applications behind are predestined for systems simulation. For example, the inverter with their PWM-signals will cause undesirable effects: Vibrations and disturbing noises are pervasive, as well as additional losses, which cause higher thermal loading. Classical FEM solvers can be coupled into a Co-Simulation in the system simulation environment using the Functional Mockup Interface (FMI) easily. Zipped as “blackbox” (FMU) these simulation models can even be shared between companies, without sharing the valuable content. The reduction of FEM solvers to so-called reduced order models (ROMs), such as the saturation model for the electric motor, will shorted computation times by several orders of magnitude. Also, transient processes or full drive / duty cycles can be computed in seconds.
