  • Multi-GPU solver(beta) available in Fluent, with added support for
    - transient flows including scale resolving simulations (SRS),
    - non-conformal interfaces (NCI) and
    - moving reference frames (MRF).
  • Automate processes, build custom workflows, craft customized solutions and more with PyFluent, the opensource access to Fluent via Python.
  • Efficient and automated structured meshing in the watertight geometry workflow reduces mesh cell count and solution solve time.
  • Simulate the production of green hydrogen through electrolysis with the new proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis model (beta).
  • Validated hydrogen and hydrogen blend combustion models enable accurate flashback prediction.
  • Efficiently predict gas mixture composition and surface heat transfer in hypersonic flows with the new partially catalytic wall boundary condition.
  • Accurately predict battery swelling during charging due to electrochemistry, pressure, and swell-related material properties, coupling the battery and intrinsic fluid-structure interaction models.


  • Automated meshing of complex turbomachinery blade designs with TurboGrid hybrid meshing (supportig complex blade tips such as squeeler tips, end-wall contouring and large blade root blends)
  • Performance gains with multithreading for pre- and post-processing
  • Perform optimization studies in Ansys optiSLang using the native CFX plugin (beta)
  • New and intuitive workflow to transfer mode shapes from Ansys Mechanical to CFX


  • Higher fidelity simulations for liquid pumps and valves using the Eulerian two-phase mixture with added support for cavitation, phase change and leakage modeling.
  • Accurately and efficiently model complex gas injections, including hydrogen, without having to resolve
  • The geometry and mesh. Dynamic results of injection simulations can be used as a source model input.
  • Model custom complex motions and fluid-structure interactions (FSI) with a new arbitrary wall-boundary user-defined function (UDF)


  • Improved memory and performance for particle laden free surface flows using Rockys coupled smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH)-discrete element method (DEM) model.
  • Performance enhancements for the particle assembly shape type with heterogeneous parts.
  • Extended support of Ansys Fluent remeshing to 2-way coupled cases.


  • Visualize and analyze large turbomachinery data sets using turbomachinery topology workflow: the ability to create spanwise, theta, axial and meridional based analysis and visualization using underlying geometry.
  • Improved rendering of smooth particle hydrodynamics (SPH) simulations to generate a more fluid-likesurface through a sphere overlap rendering approach



  • A brand-new Multi-GPU Fluent solver (beta) accelerates steady-state CFD simulations, with results showing 4 high-end GPUs provide the same performance as more than 1,000 CPUs. Cost savings can be seen with a 4X reduction in power consumption and consistent hardware savings as well.
  • Use the new visualization improvements like view synchronization, transparency, additional solid material properties and embedded windows to gain greater flexibility and ease-of-use for your postprocessing.
  • Efficiently evaluate the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) of any variable in the entire domain with a new runtime framework that does not require I/O of large time signatures files.
  • Perform advanced electronics cooling analyses that can include condensation, evaporation and more, with a new printed circuit board (PCB) model that enables the import of Ansys Icepak settings.
  • Efficiently add, remove or replace geometry objects of your CAD model without having to re-mesh the complete model using the part replacement feature in the fault-tolerant meshing workflow.
  • Solve simulations more efficiently with new mesh adaption methods: Hessian error-based adaption accounts for strong and weak features and anisotropic adaption that adapts the mesh in one direction reducing the overall cell count.
  • Quickly set up turbomachinery flow problems and instrument primary performance parameters and post processing in Fluent using the new guided task-based approach "Turbo Workflow"

  • Speed ups of more than 100X can be achieved for turbocharger turbine durability analyses using the Harmonic Analysis method in Ansys CFX.
  • TurboGrid’s hybrid meshing technology automates the meshing of complex turbomachinery blade designs. Generate a mesh in minutes for inlet guide vanes (IGV) and variable guide vanes (VGV), including buttons and partial tip/hub gaps. Retains a 1:1 connection between block-structured hex elements in the main flow path and unstructured elements on complex features such as squealer tips.


  • Eulerian two-phase mixture approach to modeling liquids and two-phase mixtures enables quick and accurate simulation of liquid pumps and valves.
  • Extended heat-transfer model options and flexibility, including user defined functions (UDF) support.
  • Efficiently post process simulation resultsin Ansys EnSight with a new file format export option that reduces file size and loading time.


  • Accelerate simulation time by reducing computation in regions with low particle interaction using the dynamic domain capability.
  • Complex shaped particles can be created with a generalized particle assembly feature that enables connections of all particle types, including polyhedral, fibers, shells and more.
  • Enhanced coupling with Ansys Fluent now includes re-meshing, one-way transient and accounting for multi-species.


  • Quickly generate high-quality photo-realistic animations with the new OSPRay ray tracer engine.
  • Instantaneously visualize how changes to materials, lights, parts and more will look with ray traced rendering through a new preview window.

Since Microsoft has officially terminated the maintenance of Windows 7 as of 14 January 2020, Windows 7 is also no longer supported by Ansys. For security reasons alone, an update to Windows 10 is recommended.

The software can be downloaded as usual via the Ansys Customer Portal:

For new customers, a user login is required before downloading. For this registration the current customer number is required.

To download the Ansys software, we recommend downloading the ISO images. With this download option, you will receive all data and do not have to assemble single modules to an installation archive. It is not necessary to burn a DVD, because the downloaded ISO images can also be unpacked with appropriate tools like 7-Zip (please use the latest version!) or WinRAR. Please do NOT use the Windows own Zip Utility or WinZip, because they might not unpack the images without errors. The individual ISO images must always be unpacked into their own folders to avoid overwriting files with the same name.

With Ansys 2022 R1 only 64bit operating systems are supported. This applies to the licensing as well as to the client / server installation of the Ansys software. Further information about platform support is available under the following link:

Compatibility with Previous Releases

Backwards Compatibility: Ansys 2022 R1 was tested to read and resume databases from the following previous versions: 2019 R1, 2019 R2, and 2019 R3, 2020 R1, 2020 R2, 2021 R1. Note that some products are able to read and resume databases from releases prior to 2019 R1. See the specific product sections below for more information. For those products that cannot directly read a 17.x, 18.x, or 19.x database in 2021 R1, first resume it in a supported version and then resume that database in 2021 R2.

Upward/Forward Compatibility: No previous release has the ability to read and resume a database from a more recent release.


In addition to the incompatibilities noted within the release notes, known non-operational behavior, errors and/or limitations at the time of release are documented in the Known Issues and Limitations document. See the Ansys customer site or online Help for information about the Ansys service packs and any additional items not included in the Known Issues and Limitations document. First-time users of the customer site must register to create a password.

Licensing information


Before updating the license server, please check if your license key is suitable for this use. The release date of the new version 2022 R1 must be before the maintenance expiration date of the corresponding license increment.

For all license keys issued after January 7, 2021 the installation of the new license manager of 2021 R2 is required.

When ordering a maintenance extension, the ASC (Ansys Support Coordinator) automatically receives a current license file. If required please contact our contract department: After each maintenance extension the received license files must be imported to ensure availability of the current licenses and compatibility to newer Ansys versions.

  • "Ansys Common Licensing" (ansyscl.exe) replaces the "licensing interconnect"
  • New Licensing Client Settings Utility ("elastic licensing" supported as failover, reduced license manager upgrades, industry standard "FlexNet Publisher" (FNP) implementation)

The file setupLM.exe was replaced by the -LM command option. This command can be used in connection with setup.exe for both command line and silent installation (example: setup.exe -LM or setup.exe -silent -LM).
