Automated generation of results reports with Ansys ACT
Sector: Automotive supplierSpecialist field: Scalability of simulations, Simulation and managementCADFEM automated the report generation of FEM simulations with Ansys ACT (Application Customization Toolkit) for an automotive supplier
Summary
Task
To simplify the documentation of FEM simulations, an automotive supplier commissioned CADFEM with the automation of report generation for both individual reports as well as configurable summary reports.
Solution
Standardization and automation result in considerable time savings, being that many time-consuming routine tasks are eliminated. Simultaneously, process reliability is increased, as reports are generated and presented in a uniform manner.
Customer benefits
The automated generation of the result reports is implemented with the Application Customization Toolkit (ACT). This includes the automated recognition and assignment of the connections between global model and submodels on the project page, as well as the filling out of the report headers of the result reports.
Project Details
Task
To simplify the documentation of FEM simulations, an automotive supplier commissioned CADFEM with the automation of report generation. The goal of the order was both the simple generation of individual reports within ANSYS Mechanical as well as configurable summary reports that contain multiple analyses of the ANSYS project page. The presentation of the simulation results in a uniform manner serves to quickly capture the information in the summary reports, showing the images of the submodels within the overall model.
Customer Benefit
Standardization and automation result in considerable time savings, being that many time-consuming routine tasks are eliminated. Simultaneously, process reliability is increased, as reports are generated and presented in a uniform manner. The automated storage of reports:
• backs up documentation requirements,
• ensures easy access to information for all project participants and
• enables targeted access to the details of the simulation results.
If the respective requirements change, the defined specifications and automatisms for the generation and storage of the result reports can be flexibly adapted by the customer.
Solution
The automated generation of the result reports is implemented with the Application Customization Toolkit (ACT). This includes the automated recognition and assignment of the connections between global model and submodels on the project page as well as the filling out of the report headers of the result reports with the corresponding metadata of the projects. The result reports are generated as print-ready HTML documents, with all required CAE information, such as material data, temperature settings, animations and images in a uniform quantity. For common mapping of the submodels with the global model, the latter is transparently stored with identical orientation and scaling. In addition, there are defined folder structures for uniform storage of the documents.
