Integration of CAESES in ANSYS Workbench with ACT
Sector: Software/hardware supplierSpecialist field: Scalability of simulations, Structural mechanicsFriendship Software AG uses Ansys ACT to link its CAD solution CAESES with ANSYS Workbench. CADFEM provided the know-how for the interface.
Summary
Task
In order to link the CAD technology of CAESES, a product of Friendship Systems AG, with the simulation solutions of ANSYS, an interface for integration into ANSYS Workbench had to be developed.
Solution
The integration was performed using the ANSYS Customization Toolkit (ACT), which provides extensive options for customizing the ANSYS environment to meet extended requirements.
Customer benefits
With the integration of CAESES into ANSYS Workbench, this additional technology is made available to a wide range of ANSYS users.
Project Details
Task
FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS AG specializes in the development of CAD software solutions for the robust parameterized representation of free-form surfaces and their automated variation. They have made a name for themselves with the CAESES product, especially in the environment of optimization tasks in fluid dynamics. In order to link this CAD technology with the simulation solutions of ANSYS, an interface for integration into the ANSYS Workbench had to be developed.

Customer Benefit
With the integration of CAESES into ANSYS Workbench, this additional technology is made available to a wide range of ANSYS users. The seamless integration into the ANSYS environment allows the embedding of the parameterized representation of free-form surfaces into the usual parameter-based simulation workflow for many application areas. In combination with ANSYS optiSLang, workflows up to Robust Design Optimization can be efficiently implemented within the ANSYS platform.

Solution
The integration was performed using the ANSYS Customization Toolkit (ACT), which provides extensive options for customizing the ANSYS environment to meet extended requirements. First, the programmers from FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS received a three-day training course on the basics of integration possibilities with ACT. Due to the intuitive handling, the core integration requirements could already be implemented during this training phase. This enabled the developers to independently complete, maintain and further develop the extension of the functionalities in ANSYS Workbench. Additionally, CADFEM guarantees the continuous support of this development.
