Mixing is a common "upstream" process in various industries. The objective of mixing processes is to optimize the yield (productivity) while ensuring the required mixing behavior and therefore the quality of the final product.

Mixing equipment has a long life cycle and is not easily replaced. However, it can be upgraded with a variety of agitator designs with or without counter blades, etc. The technical challenge is to predict their performance for different products and to adapt them to process changes.

The contribution of simulation to optimize blade design, scale up or simulate filling phases will be highlighted. In short, how can costs be reduced and a suitable mixture be obtained faster with less energy?

Agenda

  • Comparison of experimental and numerical methods
  • Global characterization of an agitation
  • Calculation of the residence time
  • Eccentric agitation
  • Comparison of mixing time
  • Suspension of solids
  • Thermal exchange
  • The interest of Ansys Fluent for mixing processes
  • Concrete examples measured by De Dietrich

Target Group

This webinar is intended for anyone interested in the illustration of Ansys Fluent for problems related to mixing processes.

Benefits

This webinar will show how to numerically model static, geared and stirred tank mixers with Ansys Fluent to optimize their performance.

Various mixers will be presented: for single phase, gas-liquid or liquid-solid systems.
