Guideline-compliant weld verifications according to IIW, FKM or Eurocode 3

With the CADFEM Extension "Weld Inside Ansys", the evaluation process is much more convenient and significantly faster.

WELD INSIDE ANSYS – EVALUATE WELD SEAMS ACCORDING TO STANDARD REGULATIONS SUCH AS IIW AND FKM GUIDELINES AS WELL AS EUROCODE 3

Only on the basis of a precise description of the properties of welds is it possible to make dependable statements about their reliability. This requires an appropriate evaluation concept. With Weld Inside Ansys, it is possible to work with both the structural stress concept and the local concept.

Product description

Guideline-compliant weld verifications

The structural stress concept allows you to quickly and efficiently evaluate the stresses in the structure around the weld, including the weld ends, for both shell and solid models.

The local concept involves rounding off the weld seam end and root in order to generate non-singular stresses that can be evaluated. Depending on the guideline, this stress is divided into the vertical and parallel components and evaluated accordingly.

One of the benefits of the local concept is that it can also be used to evaluate special weld shapes and the root of the weld. As long as the weld demonstrates a strong notch, this concept can be used to model any shape and compare it with standardized FAT classes.

Highlights at a glance

Welds are a popular means of producing larger structures from smaller components. The "Weld Inside Ansys" tool, developed by the engineering company ihf, supports the evaluation of welds in order to obtain dependable statements about their reliability. This makes the evaluation process much more convenient and significantly faster.

  • Guideline-compliant weld verification according to IIW, FKM or Eurocode 3
  • Structural stress concepts for shells and solid elements
  • Local concepts according to IIW and FKM enable evaluation of nearly any weld geometry
  • Automatic guideline-compliant report
  • Context-sensitive help
