Solutions you can count on. For real.

The optimal hardware for Simulation and HPC. Powered by CADFEM.

Custom hardware

The better hardware systems are tailored to customer-specific HPC and simulation applications and requirements, the better they will perform. That’s why CADFEM provides individualized consultations on selecting components from leading manufacturers and thus enables customized complete solutions. They are installed, configured and tested to ensure that they fit your requirements and you can concentrate on your computation tasks from the very start.

Brand quality

CADFEM is a long-standing sales partner of leading hardware manufacturers such as HP, HPE, Lenovo and NVIDIA.

Individual

At CADFEM, you won’t get off-the-shelf hardware, but rather a ready-to-use complete solution that’s tailored to your specific requirements.

CAE expertise

CADFEM’s core competence is simulation. And that’s why the hardware we deliver is optimally configured for it.

Why custom hardware?

Getting the best performance out of your simulation software is also a question of the right hardware and its configuration. And this depends on many factors. The experienced CADFEM team takes its time, together with you or your IT department, to devise and then implement a concept tailored to your requirements.

Among other things, our service involves

  • The number of users
  • The type of analysis (CFD, FEM, implicit, explicit)
  • The model size
  • The number of simultaneous analyses
  • The network connection
  • Data management

Our Products

Workstations

Workstations offer extensive capabilities with excellent value for money and can be used independently and in decentralized configurations. A large RAM of up to 512 GB and multi-processor systems ensure a high level of computing capacity. Hard drives and solid-state disks can be used in tandem and enable fast data storage of temporary computation data.

Individual users can effectively perform all work steps relevant to simulation on such a workstation. Beyond solving the equation system, this also includes preparing the task with geometry creation, meshing and boundary conditions as well as visualization of the results.

A High 3D graphics performance and local availability of all data offer the user direct access and fast processing.

Compute server/cluster

With the increasing use of simulations, the demand for scalable computing power increases. Centralized compute servers offer a wide range of expansion options with regard to processor cores, RAM, disk capacity and disk speed.

Today, typical compute servers for computation groups of five to ten people with structural mechanics tasks are equipped with 64 to 512 cores and 512 GB to 4 TB of RAM. In addition to the higher computing power in absolute terms, in many cases the flexible, centrally organized capacity distribution, improved utilization, enhanced energy efficiency and central data storage also play a major role.

Since compute servers don’t have 3D graphics capabilities, pre- and post-processing is often carried out with decentralized workstations; this does, however, require a powerful network connection due to the large volume of result data.

Virtual workstations

If the network bandwidth for a powerful connection between the workstations and the compute server is not available, the workstation is moved to the server. Blade workstations bring workstation technology with 3D graphics capability to the computer server in the form of compact, server-compatible and fail-safe technology. Since the blade workstations are connected to the compute server (10 GigEthernet) directly, result data can be processed instantly at high speeds by the compute server.

The 3D graphic illustration computed in the workstation is transmitted via the network – including to different locations – with minimal network loads to the user’s workplace, which no longer requires local computing power but only a terminal (thin client). A user remotely accesses a blade workstation exclusively, meaning the corresponding 3D graphic capacity is reserved for this user.

Virtualization has gained traction in recent years for greater flexibility in allocating users to hardware. Desktop virtualization for ordinary office workstations is a common method of enabling uniform software environments, centralized data storage and flexible hardware utilization.

For a long time, this way of flexibly connecting users to the required hardware simply was not feasible for 3D applications (such as Ansys) based on the OpenGL standard. New developments (e.g. NICE DCV) have closed this gap in virtualization technology, enabling shared use of hardware for 3D applications with greater efficiency, simplified administration and lower costs.

What our clients say

Borislav Vrabevski
ASM Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG

The switch to the home office was not difficult: our internal ‘CAE island’ set up by CADFEM, some would say 'private cloud', was immediately accessible again. The data remain protected within the company, we are protected at home.

The right solutions for your simulation projects

Simulation is everywhere and affects every industry. Since simulation requires more than software, CADFEM offers everything you need for successful simulation from a single source: software and IT solutions, consulting, support, engineering and knowledge sharing – always on the cutting edge.
